Dominika Zachcial stays in Estonia for 12 months within the project ”Support for Personal and Social Development II” which is funded by Erasmus+ European Voluntary Service programme.

I am volunteer in Imastu Kool – Kodu, I am working with disabled people. It was difficult for me to find an idea for my Initiative Project but finalny someting appered in my mind. Klanza sheet! I was in scout troop when I was a child and I played in different games using this big, colorful piece of cloth. And I loved it. So, I thought… maybe disabled people will love it too…

Moreover, I also remembered all advantages of it. Klanza sheet is useful for different teaching aims. The one activity can develop a lot of skills eg. cooperation, reflex, observation, agility and dexterity, sense of rhythm, recognition of colors. Games combine visual and touch experience, movement, bring a joyful mood and relaxation. It is a good opportunity to use the imagination and learn how work in the group. The appearances of the sheet make participants interested in the games.

So, I did it. I ordered the Klanza sheet from Poland (it turned out that there aren’t equivalents in Estonia) and I organized the games for my clients. I chose those who have got physical and mental conditions to take part in the games. We threw a ball not to let her fall into the whole, we wrapped a person who was in the middle of the cloth and we did plenty of different funny things with our Klanza sheet. I believe that all of participants had really great time and they loved it…, like me in my childchood.

There are the sample games which I used in my Initiative Project:
• ‘Colors’
The participants go around holding a sheet in their hands. Everyone has her/his own color. When the leader calls out two colors people have to change places, e.g. green and yellow. After hearing the words “all colors” participants hide under the sheet.
• ‘Memory game’
Participants are standing in a circle with closed eyes, holding the handles of Klanza sheet. The leader touches a person who hides under the sheet. The rest of players open their eyes and are encouraged to guess who is missing.
• ‘Wind and tree’
A person is standing in the middle of the sheet just like a tree, other participants wave the sheet trying to knock the tree down.
• ‘Loch Ness Monster’
Participants are sitting around the sheet. They are holding it at the height of the chin. Underneath, there is one person – a monster. When everybody closes their eyes, monster pulls someone under the scarf. Group opens their eyes and guesses who disappeared. The person who can guess comes in the role of a monster.

• ‘The Carousel’
One person is sitting in the middle of the sheet and the rest of participants revolves it, going faster and faster in one direction. The person in the center tries to maintain a balance.
• ‘Billiards”
The group fans the sheet on which there is a ball. This ball has to fall into the whole which is in the middle of Klanza.
• ‘Lotus flower’
One person is sitting in the middle of the sheet with his/her legs under his/her chin. The rest of participants are holding the sheet and going very slowly in the right direction. They are wrapping the person who is in the middle. At the comment ‘one, two, three”, they start to go very quickly in the opposite direction.
• ‘Jumping of pancake’
The participants are standing in the row. The first person is wrapped in the sheet in this way that she/he can jump on two feet. On signal of the leader, he/she starts to jump to the finishing – line (about 20 steps), next he/she is released and coming back to the row.
• ‘Music sheet’
Group is moving to melody, waving the sheet. The leader prepares different pieces of music.
• ‘Colorful music’
The participants are dancing to the music around the sheet. In the moment when music is turned off, they have to stand in the color specified by the leader.
